There's something unique about the
closing credits of so many 70's/80's shows – especially the ones
that ran late at night because the nation went to bed after those
lullabies. It was our cue – see what I did there – to turn out
the lights and turn in.
TAXI, in particular, with its gentle
bluesy theme gives permission to feel sedate, the perfect coda to a
racous ensemble comedy.
Today's shows, by contrast, must – by
design – keep the energy up and insist on your watching the ads in
the next episode.
I think there's an opportunity for a network with a different tone to emerge.
